Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a direct-hire opportunity with a large lumber manufacturing operation in Leola, Arkansas.

Work hours will be 6:30pm- 6:00am Night Shift

This role is responsible for leading day-to-day maintenance activities in a fast-paced sawmill environment, with a strong focus on safety, equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, cost control, and employee development.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned maintenance leader who came up through the trades as a Millwright or Electrician and has direct experience maintaining equipment within the lumber/sawmill industry. This individual should be comfortable providing both technical and people leadership while developing and mentoring maintenance personnel.

Direct lumber/sawmill industry experience is required for consideration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead maintenance activities with the highest priority placed on employee safety.
  • Supervise maintenance and cleanup personnel working across varying schedules.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and support troubleshooting of sawmill production equipment alongside shift supervisors and maintenance personnel.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, PM routes, scheduled repairs, and other non-emergency maintenance activities.
  • Help minimize equipment downtime while supporting production and quality objectives.
  • Inspect completed maintenance work to ensure repairs meet operational and reliability expectations.
  • Monitor maintenance performance and develop, track, and communicate key departmental metrics.
  • Manage maintenance costs with a focus on improving overall manufacturing unit cost.
  • Develop and coordinate equipment reliability and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Coordinate parts and material requirements with purchasing personnel.
  • Manage employee scheduling and attendance.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to apprentices and maintenance team members.
  • Communicate maintenance priorities, goals, expectations, and work instructions clearly and effectively.
  • Address employee conflicts and promote accountability within the maintenance team.
  • Provide active oversight of contractor safety and work activities.
  • Support and enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures, Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), safety audits, and other plant safety programs.
  • Weekend coverage is only required on an as-needed basis, such as for vendor-supported training, and call-in requirements are minimal.
Sawmill Equipment

The Maintenance Supervisor will support the maintenance and reliability of equipment including, but not limited to:

  • Debarkers
  • Trimmers
  • Stackers
  • Chippers
  • Blowers
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Other lumber-processing and material-handling equipment
Required Qualifications
  • Direct lumber or sawmill industry experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience as a Journeyman Electrician or Millwright.
  • Demonstrated maintenance leadership, supervisory, or equivalent team‑lead experience.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting knowledge within an industrial production environment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and planned maintenance activities.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize maintenance activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two- or four-year degree.
