Street Maintenance Worker I
This is an entry level position that will work as a laborer maintaining streets, culverts and drainage systems as assigned. This position on occasion will operate equipment used in maintaining road systems. Requires valid Arkansas drivers' license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This job requires general knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Must have ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Requires a valid Arkansas driver's license, and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a safety-sensitive position.
