Architectural Draftsmen

Erdmann Outdoor Living is seeking a skilled Drafter with a strong technical background in drafting, permitting, and construction documentation. In this role, you'll be responsible for producing accurate plans, ensuring compliance with codes, and supporting our team in delivering high-quality outdoor living projects, including decks, patios, kitchens, and more.

We specialize in designing and building custom outdoor living spaces that combine quality craftsmanship with functionality. From decks and patios to kitchens, fire features, and water elements, our projects are tailored to fit our clients' homes and lifestyles.

• Occasionally perform on-site measurements of existing project conditions
• Produce permit-ready and construction-ready drawings
• Develop elevations, details, and technical documents for build teams
• Revise plans as necessary for permitting and approvals
• Stay current with Illinois building codes and local permitting requirements
• Work closely with carpenters and internal teams to ensure accurate build documentation

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, Fine Arts, or related field, Master's degree in Architecture preferred
• 3+ years as a drafter
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and intermediate proficiency in Sketch Up (preferred)
• Working knowledge of MS365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Strong knowledge of Illinois building codes and the permitting process
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage a high volume of projects simultaneously
• Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable vehicle
