ABOUT METROPOLIS:
The School of the Performing Arts (SOPA) at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights has been educating learners in the arts for over 15 years. Our Community Engagement branch focuses on sharing performing arts education with learners of all ages and abilities throughout the area.
Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a 501 (c)(3) non‑profit organization.
ABOUT THE POSITION:Bring the joy of performance to adults with special needs!
We’re hiring a knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic instructor/director to lead this program full of enthusiastic adult performers!
"Clearbrook on Cue" is a group of adults ages 18+, all with developmental disabilities. The group consists of 15 participants who want to have fun performing and connecting with their peers.
"Clearbrook on Cue" meets one weeknight per week for 90 minutes. The sessions will start at the beginning of March with a performance on Mon, June 8.
The instructor will be contracted for this individual session. While employment will end upon session completion, employment opportunities for future sessions are possible.
COMPENSATION:$2,000 stipend
INSTRUCTOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Foster a positive, friendly, and safe learning environment for students
- Apply knowledge of performance, directing, and teaching methods related to students with special needs
- Teach weekly rehearsals and lead the final performance
- Create a syllabus in alignment with program goals and objectives
- Enthusiasm and passion for teaching and creating a fun environment for connecting through acting and performance
- Experience teaching, directing, and writing scripts for various performance skill levels
- Experience creating curriculum/syllabi
