The Athletic Director is responsible for leading and managing the high school's athletic programs, ensuring alignment with the school's mission and values. This role oversees all facets of the athletic department, including budgeting, facilities management, program development, and community engagement. The Athletic Director is committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, leadership, and a sense of belonging among all students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with school and district leadership to promote equity and address inequities within the athletic programs.
- Lead recruitment, selection, and employment of athletic department staff, coaches, and volunteers.
- Develop and manage schedules for athletic practices and contests.
- Work with the APAO to establish and monitor the athletics budget.
- Prepare and execute athletic contracts.
- Develop and implement orientation and mentorship programs for new coaches.
- Coordinate the use of athletic facilities for school and community events.
- Serve as the official representative for the IHSA and Mid Suburban League.
- Assign officials for athletic contests.
- Oversee transportation arrangements for all athletic events.
- Maintain student eligibility for IHSA and No Pass/No Play requirements.
- Manage student‑athlete paperwork and medical records within the Student Information System.
- Supervise and evaluate the Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic Assistant, Head Coaches, and Athletic Trainer Supervisor.
- Serve as the primary liaison for athletic booster organizations.
- Oversee athletic home events, including ticket sales, staffing, and supervision schedules.
- Promote athletic opportunities across all student demographics to maximize participation.
- Build awareness of athletic programs and their benefits among students.
- Ensure all athletic events are supervised, in collaboration with the Associate Principal of Activities & Operations and the Assistant Athletic Director.
- Lead and manage the Summer Athletic Program, including registration and communication with families.
- Oversee athletic department fundraising to ensure compliance with district policies.
- Develop and implement student leadership programs within athletics.
- Collaborate with Deans to address behavioral or disciplinary issues with athletes.
- Conduct regular coaches' meetings and annual evaluations of head coaches and their programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the APAO.
- Presently holds State of Illinois Professional Educator License with a General Administrator Endorsement, or a Principal Endorsement.
- Knowledge of and experience in staff supervision and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in athletic administration, coaching, or educational leadership.
