An opportunity is available for an Instructional Teacher specializing in Special Education with a focus on Assistive Technology. This contract position supports a self-contained classroom serving Kindergarten and 1st-grade students with low-incidence disabilities. Instruction begins on August 19 and runs during regular school hours, from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, in Arlington Heights, IL.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering tailored instruction to a caseload of approximately six students in a self-contained setting
  • Utilizing assistive technology, including AAC devices, to facilitate communication and learning
  • Collaborating with support staff and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress with a focus on enhancing educational outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
  • Experience working with young students in special education settings, ideally including low-incidence populations
  • Proficient in the use of assistive technology to support communication and learning
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills tailored to early childhood special education
