Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
AHPD's Expressions Performing Arts Academy is seeking talented Dance Instructors with Saturday morning availability for our season. Candidates should have a strong dance background, and experience working with children.
A Bachelor's in Dance is preferred, but comparable experience is accepted. Classes are our Ballet & Tap combination classes for 3-6 year olds. Come join our fun studio with lots of subbing opportunities!
Part-Time Wages
Hiring rate is $25-$40 DOQ.
Job Duties
- Develops and teaches dance lessons and activities based on program goals and provided curriculum.
- Selects music, materials, equipment, and costumes within budget for classes and recitals.
- Supports recital planning and preparation alongside the Cultural Arts Supervisor.
- Encourages creativity and enthusiasm for dance among students.
- Maintains communication with parents about student progress and behavior.
- Welcomes participants, takes attendance, and contributes to program guide content.
- BA/BS in Dance, Performing Arts, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum three to five years of experience in dance performance and instruction preferred
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred
- Standing or sitting for sustained periods while completing work
- Repetitive hand/arm movements, such as when demonstrating dance techniques to participants
- Some bending, twisting, and walking while performing job duties
- Some bending, kneeling, and reaching for items off the floor and on high shelves
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. in dance equipment, storage boxes, and other supplies.
