Job Description

Make an immediate difference as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting students and educators across a welcoming district near Schaumburg, IL. This full-time, contract position calls for passionate, dedicated professionals to provide vision-related services and advocate for young learners from Pre-K through transition ages in an itinerant capacity across multiple school sites.

What you’ll bring:

• A valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with the appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
• Completion of a Master’s degree in a relevant field
• At least five years of experience working in a school-based setting
• Strong mentoring and coaching skills for supporting new and returning staff
• Effective collaboration with teams, students, and families
• A commitment to best practices, diversity, and inclusion
• Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and credentialing prior to the start date

Role highlights:

• Full-time schedule—37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), with potential flexibility for part-time arrangements
• Travel between multiple schools as an itinerant educator within the district
• Lead, coach, and support your peers in the Vision Related Services Department
Provide vital direct services to students in various grade levels
• Offer guidance on best practices, problem solve, and promote the use of available resources
• Engage closely with families, teachers, and service teams to support student achievement
• Participate in continuous professional development and training initiatives
