What you will do
Under minimal supervision, you will conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems, troubleshooting issues and solving inefficiencies. You will manage customer satisfaction through direct on‑site service, mentor technicians, complete project documentation, and act as a trusted advisor providing solutions at the time of service. You will be responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring customer awareness of service provided, recommending system enhancements, upselling add‑on work, and adhering to safety standards.
Howyou will do it
Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, test and write modifications in multiple system languages, consult with customers, provide field proposals for retrofits and upgrades, and assist sales with technical recommendations. Manage work to meet efficient execution and customer satisfaction, report issues to management, interface with managers and subcontractors, provide sketches for engineering corrections, assist with job layouts and bid proposals, and communicate regularly with customers to keep them informed.
Provide safety leadership, train and mentor technicians, compile job documentation (certificates, punch lists, training forms), conduct self‑study to maintain technical proficiency, and complete necessary certifications.
Other duties include installing, commissioning, and servicing building controls and energy management systems, assisting in design and configuration per contract documents, creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of materials, network layouts, and electrical schematics. You will assist in developing and testing software, compile project as‑built and close‑out documentation, coordinate drawing and equipment schedules, order and track materials, coordinate factory‑mounting processes, assist in loading and commissioning controllers, validate system functionality, troubleshoot with subcontractors, provide field change information for as‑built drawings, keep management and customers informed of progress, assist in owner/operator training, participate in release meetings, provide recommendations to run facilities efficiently, and provide quotes to support these recommendations.
Whatwe look for
- A dedicated member of a North America Branch team ready to learn and take responsibility for troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
- Minimum of four (4) years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including buildings, chiller plants, and systems.
- Graduation from a vocational school program or associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years of experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
- Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites and explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong writing skills and understanding of programs and software applications.
- Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
