Operations Manager
What you will do
As a Major Projects Project Manager, you will be responsible for the profitable execution of assigned Building Automation System (BAS) complex projects valued at $2million or more. This role requires managing the entire project lifecycle—from early sales support and scope definition, through scheduling, procurement, billing, and change order negotiations—to completion.
- Collaborate with Owner and contractor sales managers, branch installation managers, and cross‑functional teams to provide early sales support, value engineering and risk assessment.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce project schedules, budgets and scope, ensuring accurate billing, timely collections and positive cash flow.
- Coordinate project execution teams (Project Engineers, System Application Engineers, subcontractors) to deliver equipment and installation according to design, code and company standards.
- Manage change orders, prepare cost estimates, negotiate final settlement prices and secure customer acceptance.
- Review contract terms, analyze financial reporting and communicate progress, issues and financial status to senior management.
- Implement risk management and recovery plans, resolve disputes and maintain documentation control in line with contract and JCI standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and all state, local, and federal regulations.
- Lead project schedules using Microsoft Project, coordinating resources and meeting project objectives.
- Maintain relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors, attending job progress meetings.
- Oversee technical resource management, subcontractor billing and collections to maintain profitability.
- Conduct field inspections and ensure engineering, commissioning, and product‑related issues meet established standards.
- Support area management and sales in project development, customer training, and bundled project coordination.
- Travel up to 25% into surrounding markets.
- Minimum five years of direct project management experience in the Building Construction industry, with preference for HVAC controls, BAS, mechanical retrofits, fire or security management systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an associate’s degree with equivalent experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical material to non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and financial accounting systems.
- PMI/PMP certification preferred.
- Experience managing projects ≥$2million.
Hirings salary range: $73,000–137,000. Eligible for a competitive bonus plan based on individual, group and corporate performance.
