What are we looking for?

The LSS Panel Technician II is responsible for providing technical support for engineering staff, including performing duties related to testing. This Technician II works under direct supervision and is responsible for performing electrical/performance testing on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canada (e.g., IES, CIE, NEMA, UL/CSA) and other international product safety standards, writing reports and communicating with clients.

This position has the potential for 5% travel.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $28/hr-$32/hr. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:
  • Receive, log, inspect, and track client test samples (EUT) throughout the testing lifecycle, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Set up and execute standard test plans under the direction of engineering staff according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety standard test programs.
  • Construct, wire, and troubleshoot specialized test benches and automated test fixtures using basic hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment.
  • Install thermocouples, strain gauges, and sensor probes onto circuit components, heat sinks, enclosures, and terminals for thermal and electrical evaluations.
  • Operate calibrated laboratory test equipment including: digital multi-meters, AC/DC power sources, data acquisition loggers (DAQs), dielectric strength (hi-pot) testers, ground continuity meters, oscilloscopes, sound level meters, environmental chambers, and drop/impact test apparatus.
  • Execute core test procedures such as: input/output electrical ratings, continuous temperature/thermal profiling, abnormal component simulation, dielectric withstand, environmental exposure (humidity, thermal cycling), mechanical impact, and sound/light output measurements.
  • Accurately record, compile, and format test data into laboratory test sheets and software tools; capture clear photographic evidence of test setups and failure modes.
  • Maintain laboratory 5S standards, ensuring all test stations remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines.
  • Verify calibration status of all test equipment prior to use and assist the calibration coordinator with routine equipment maintenance.
  • Perform other work as required.
