LaSalle Network has partnered with an organization in the northwest suburbs of Chicago to identify a Payroll Manager
. This individual will lead and oversee all payroll operations across a high-volume, multi-state environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing for both office and field employees.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can own payroll end-to-end, navigate union complexities, and drive process improvements across systems and reporting.
Compensation: $95, commensurable with experience
Work model: fully on-site
What You’ll Do- Lead end-to-end payroll processing, including final review and reconciliation of weekly payroll
- Process supplemental payrolls such as bonuses and allowances (housing, car, etc.)
- Oversee layoffs, missed time payroll, and complex pay scenarios
- Manage union payroll reporting, including certified payroll reporting (CPR) and monthly union reporting
- Administer salary increases for office staff and oversee union wage adjustments and changes
- Ensure accuracy of direct deposit and expense file uploads (with support from payroll administrators)
- Maintain payroll system accuracy, including tax updates and system enhancements
- Review weekly tax calculations and oversee timely tax deposits
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and union requirements, including timely payments and reporting
- Manage apprentice-related billing for multiple union locals
- Oversee PTO approvals and payroll-related reconciliations
- Prepare and manage quarterly reporting and year-end processes (W-2s, 1095s, reconciliations, adjustments)
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a payroll management role with direct reports
- Hands‑on experience managing union payroll (required)
- Strong knowledge of multi‑state payroll compliance, tax regulations, and reporting
- Experience with certified payroll reporting (CPR) and union requirements
- Ability to manage high‑volume payroll operations with strong attention to detail
- Experience supervising or mentoring payroll staff
- Familiarity with payroll systems and integrations (ERP/timekeeping platforms)
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to handle complex payroll scenarios
