The Village of Arlington Heights isseekinga detail-oriented and analytical professional to join its Finance Department as a Financial Analyst. This position playsan important rolein supporting the Village’s financial operations through budget analysis, accounting, payroll support,and financial reporting.
The Financial Analyst contributes to soundfinancial management and data-driven decision-makingtosupport the delivery of high-quality municipal services.
In this role, the Financial Analyst works closely with Finance Department staff andother Villagedepartments to analyze financial data,identify trends, and support operational and budgetary decisions. Responsibilities include researching and evaluating financial information,monitoringrevenue and expenditures, preparing reports and presentations, tracking operational metrics, andsupportingthe Village’s annual audit process. The position also performs accounting functions including preparing journal entries, reconciling financial transactions,andmaintainingrecords.
The Financial Analyst supports weekly payroll processing and serves as a backup to the Payroll Coordinator. The position contributes to annual filings, financial reporting requirements, and special projects as needed. This role also plays an activerolein continuous improvement efforts by evaluating financial processes,leveraging technology to enhance tools and workflows, andidentifyingopportunities to improve efficiency and decision-making.
The ideal candidate willpossessstrong analytical, accounting, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to communicate complex financial information. Successful candidates willdemonstrateattention to detail, strong mathematical aptitude, and the ability to manage multiple priorities whilemaintainingaccuracy and confidentiality. AnAssociatedegree or two years of college coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. ABachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Theanticipatedstarting salary for this position isbetween $82,190 – $84,464,depending on qualifications, with a full salary range of $82,190 – $110,956.The Financial Analyst will work a 37.5-hour work week andbe offered acompetitive benefits package,including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, professional developmentopportunitiesand participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
