Natural Resources Specialist, Opt

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources seeks a Natural Resources Specialist for the Office of Water Resources, Coastal Management division. The role manages projects to advance protection, preservation, and stewardship of Illinois' coastal and natural resources, including federal grant reporting, coastal stakeholder support, and regional coordination with Great Lakes partners. The position develops relationships with external partners, creates educational materials, and tracks budgets and progress for multiple concurrent initiatives.

• Master's degree in outdoor recreation, natural heritage resource management, or related biological/life/natural science; OR bachelor's degree with two years directly related professional experience
• Two years experience identifying emerging coastal management issues such as climate change and water quality adaptation
• Two years experience facilitating and participating in networks, teams, work groups or communities of practice
• Two years experience developing and tracking budgets and progress for multiple concurrent projects
• Two years experience writing technical reports, grant proposals, or land management plans
• Valid driver's license and ability to complete background check
