** Hourly Pay Range:**$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
** Position Highlights:*** ### Position:
Patient Care Technician – For Nursing Students – Days, Evenings, and Nights available (limited days and evenings)* ###
Location:
Arlington Heights, IL* ### Must be able to commit to working at least 48 hours every 6 weeks and 24 of those hours must be on weekend time.* ### Must be able to attend a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Orientation from about 8:00am-4:30pm on a the week of starting.* ### Unit types are all med Surg areas* ### Start dates Available May 18th or June 1st* ###

* What you will do:
*** Enters specific patient Treatments, charges to facilitate management of the patient healthcare record
* Assists the care team in coordinating patient activities and services
* Assists in coordinating communication and resources between care team, physicians, patients and family members.
* Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
* Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.
* Obtains patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse. As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKG’s, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc. Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary. Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.
* Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed. Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties. May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.

* What you will need:
*** This patient care technician position is for students currently enrolled in a nursing program
* Must be available to work summer and potentially seasonally thereafter.
* The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school
* Completion of an accredited CNA course and the successful completion of the CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedics training course, or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with the completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required
* Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
