We are happy to be partnered with a well-established, mission-driven organization in the northwest suburbs of Chicago is seeking a proactive and highly organized Purchasing Agent to support its business office and purchasing operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors
  • Assist employees and departments throughout the purchasing process
  • Prepare, process, track, and close purchase orders and requisitions
  • Review major vendors and obtain competitive quotes to ensure favorable pricing
  • Monitor pricing changes and identify cost-saving alternatives, products, or purchasing strategies
  • Negotiate with vendors and resolve pricing, service, delivery, or product-related concerns
  • Recommend acceptable product substitutions when appropriate
  • Partner with departments and leadership to understand purchasing needs
  • Maintain purchasing records, vendor information, catalogs, and frequently ordered product details
  • Provide Accounts Payable with the documentation needed to process vendor payments
  • Ensure purchasing activity follows internal policies, approval processes, and procedures
  • Support additional business office and purchasing initiatives as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • At least two years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, vendor management, or a related function
  • Previous experience working directly with vendors, contractors, or suppliers
  • Previous experience preparing and processing purchase orders
  • Experience partnering across departments and helping employees navigate the purchasing process
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests and meet deadlines
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of projects
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Additional Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all required pre-employment screening, including a physical, drug screening, background check, and TB test.

This position requires extended periods of sitting and computer-based work and may occasionally require lifting up to 15 pounds.
