Environment, Health and Safety Manager

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will lead, establish, and sustain the site EHS strategy for a high-volume manufacturing facility employing approximately 2,000 personnel. This role is responsible for driving a continuous improvement safety culture, ensuring total compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational health regulations (OSHA, EPA, state DEP, etc.), and managing a site team of four direct reports.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 EHS professionals to drive operational safety excellence across a large-scale manufacturing operation.
• Serve as the strategic EHS advisor to site leadership, plant leadership, and shop-floor personnel.
• Develop and manage the annual EHS operating budget and capital expenditure projects.

• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve robust safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001).
• Manage root cause analysis and corrective action implementation (CAPA) for near-misses, injuries, and property damage incidents.
• Oversee site ergonomics, machine safeguarding, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), electrical safety, chemical safety (Haz Com), and industrial hygiene programs.
• Drive site initiatives to achieve zero lost-time incidents and continuous reduction in Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR).

• Direct site compliance with air permits (Title V / NSR), wastewater discharge, storm water management (SWPPP), hazardous waste management (RCRA), and SPCC requirements.
• Prepare and submit all required regulatory filings (e.g., Tier II, TRI/Form R, EPA/DEP air and water reports) on time and accurately.
• Lead environmental sustainability initiatives, including waste minimization, energy efficiency, and water conservation projects.

• Design and deploy comprehensive EHS training programs for incoming and current employees.
• Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments (Job Hazard Analyses) across all shifts.
• Foster a proactive, employee-engaged safety culture across the 2,000-person plant.

• Experience: Minimum 10+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a medium-to-large manufacturing facility (automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, industrial equipment, or heavy manufacturing preferred).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
• Team Leadership: Proven track record of direct supervisory experience managing EHS direct reports in a manufacturing setting.
• Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, ISO 14001 / 45001 standards, and state-level environmental codes.
• Certifications (Preferred): Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
