This entry-level role supports the installation of basic mechanical/electronic lock systems on barracks doors at U.S. military bases. Work involves removing existing mechanical locks and installing new preconfigured units similar to hotel-style door locks. No programming or advanced electronics experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove old mechanical locks from barracks doors using hand and power tools.
- Install new basic lock systems by aligning, mounting, and securing hardware.
- Ensure proper fit, function, and alignment of installed locks.
- Follow on-site procedures for working on military bases.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow safety protocols.
- Communicate progress, issues, and completion status to project leads.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to obtain access to military bases (clean background; no clearance required).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using drills, screwdrivers, and hand tools.
- Ability to follow installation instructions and work with simple electronic lock hardware.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or with a small team.
- Willingness to travel for multi-day or multi-week assignments.
- Ability to lift 25–40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with hotel-style locks or basic hardware installation.
- Previous work on military bases or secure facilities.
- General construction, maintenance, or handyman experience.
