Position: TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM (TLP) RESIDENT ADVISOR
TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM (TLP) RESIDENT ADVISOR
Provide trauma‑informed, youth‑centered support to young adults ages 17-21 participating in the Transitional Living Program. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured living environment while assisting participants in developing the skills necessary to achieve independence. Essential functions include providing daily supervision, crisis intervention, life skills coaching, documentation, transportation, and coordination of services to help youth meet their educational, employment, housing, and personal goals in accordance with agency policies and program standards.
SPECIFIC
DUTIES RESIDENT SUPERVISION AND TEACHING
Provide supervision, support, and mentoring to youth in accordance with program policies.Implement trauma‑informed care practices that emphasize safety and independence.Supervise and assist residents with daily activities and routines.Assist youth with daily living skills, educational support, recreational activities and goal setting.Model healthy coping skills, communication, and boundaries for youth.Intervene in crisis situations using de‑escalation strategies that prioritize safety.Provide transportation of residents to appointments, meetings and/or staffings as needed.Comply with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Children and Family Services "Code of Ethics for Child Welfare Professionals."HOUSE MANAGEMENT
Support youth in completing daily chores and responsibilities to promote life skills and shared accountability.Model and encourage respect for shared spaces, personal belongings, and community areas.Monitor for safety hazards and promptly report or address maintenance concerns.Teach and reinforce healthy routines related to hygiene, nutrition, and personal responsibility.Oversee and maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment in accordance with program and licensing standards.PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
Implement daily routine as designed in TLP Procedure Manual.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of youth progress, incidents and services.Attend scheduled staff meetings and in‑service training.Carry out all duties as designated by the TLP Coordinator.TLP Resident Advisors shall be supervised and directly accountable on all matters to the TLP Coordinator.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hours and days shall be scheduled by the TLP Coordinator according to the needs of the program. We are currently looking to fill two part time overnight shifts.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 25 years of age in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Licensing Standards for Transitional Living Programs.Undergraduate degree from an accredited school required. Degree in human services field desired.Must have a demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Shelter's mission, vision, and values.Must have a valid Illinois driver's license and must submit proof of Illinois auto insurance.Must meet Child Care Facility Driver requirements in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.Must complete a Medical and T.B. test. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID‑19, according to the latest CDC guidelines.Must be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full Background Check through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.Must submit official educational transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded.Must become certified in CPR /First Aid, CPI, and complete in‑service Think Trauma training and New Hire Orientation before working independently.Ability to lift 40 lbs.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
