Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff engaged in cleaning and maintaining the site premises by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. Fulfills management instructions in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Duties / Responsibilities- Supervise daily work of assistant leads and custodians; inspect all assigned areas daily to ensure work is being carried out properly and orderly.
- Evaluate performance of custodial personnel; prepare and submit disciplinary actions and incident reports; counsel employees.
- Hold daily staff briefings to cover key topics for the day.
- Identify development and training needs, and ensure that all training is obtained.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence related to the work.
- Make rounds to check for crew coverage of designated work areas, give special cleaning instructions and/or assignments, and remain in compliance with direction of upper management.
- Conduct inspections and investigate tenant/customer complaints of the building, and check for cleanliness and repairs as required.
- Train and ensure the subordinate staff understands their job requirements, including the proper cleaning methods, the use of equipment, safety practices, illness and injury prevention and work regulation.
- Assist with coverage of call‑offs / covering facility areas.
- Review schedules, create and manage new and recurring trainings.
- Assist with ensuring overall customer satisfaction, including daily reporting to upper management.
- Ensure proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Correspond with Manager for support, updates and duties.
- Ability to designate shift and area of work assignments for custodians (temporary/replacements) and lead personnel; conduct training.
- Thorough knowledge of standard methods, equipment, and supplies in janitorial activities of the service, large or small scale.
- Ability to work with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to operate and use tools/equipment for training purposes.
- Ability to make the most efficient use of personnel as instructed, delegate tasks and assignments.
- Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond using written communication.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively independently or with a team.
- Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products and use.
The Supervisor position is physically demanding. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting heavy objects, operating medium weight cleaning equipment. The Supervisor must perform the duties outlined which comply with airport/company policies and regulations to create a cooperative, safe, respectful, and quality work environment.
