• Plans,assigns,supervisessubordinatepersonnel
• Instructs,subordinatesandsetsexpectedlevelsofperformanceincleaningbuildings and grounds maintenance, proper use of equipment, materials and supplies, and other routines.
• Motivatesemployeestooperateasaneffectiveworkingunit.
• Counselsemployeesandresolves informalcomplaintsandgrievancesthroughdiscussion.
• Reportsonemployees'workhoursandperformance;initiatesdisciplinary actionasneeded.
• Makesdailyinspectionstoensurethatprescribedstandardsaremaintainedwithrespecttoplantequipment, property,and grounds.
• Requisition sanddistributesequipment,materials,and supplies.
• Performs and/orseesthatpreventive maintenance, adjustments, and minor repairs are performed to HVAC, electrical and heating systems, plumbing, windows, etc.
• Ensuresthatpropersafetyandsecurityprecautionsareobserved.
• Directsactivityset upandassistsschoolandcommunitygroupswhichutilizethebuilding.
• Movesandtransportsfurniture,equipment,boxedtextbooks,andothersuppliesweighingupto
  50poundsand greater weights manually or with mechanical assistance.
• Meetswith maintenanceandcontractorpersonneltoplanappropriateactionforbuildingrepairs.
• Trainstheworkforcetomeetalljob
  requirementsandpreparesexceptionalpersonsforadvancement.
• Managesormakesminorbuildingandequipmentrepairs; performsrelatedworkasrequiredorassigned.

Employee is exposed to potential chemical hazards and toxic substances when using cleaning liquids, solvents and solutions, to potential biological hazards when cleaning restrooms, and to potential physical hazards when operating custodian equipment. Work also exposes employee to dust, fumes and occasionally to adverse weather conditions. Work requires the frequent use of safety clothing and equipment and compliance with safety procedures

• Thoroughknowledgeofthemethods,materials,andequipmentusedininstitutionalbuildingcleaningandplantandgrounds
  maintenance.
• Thoroughknowledgeoftheoperationoftheheatingandcoolingsysteminschoolplants.
• Thoroughknowledgeof the means of protecting self and others from the potential hazard from exposure to blood born pathogens, exrement and other body fluids, and of safe effective cleaning and disposal methods.
• Abilitytoplanandsupervisetheworkofamoderatetolargestaffof custodians.
• Abilityandskilltoperformminorrepairsincidentalto buildingmaintenancerelatedtrades.
• Abilitytoestablishandmaintainacceptablerelationswithfaculty,students,andthepublic.

• GraduationfromhighschoolorGED,supplementedbyaconsiderableprogressionofresponsibleexperienceincustodialand
  facilitieswork,someofwhichshallhaveincludedcustodialsupervisoryexperienceatthelevelof
  
  CustodianIII,or Assistant
  Custodial Supervisor;oranyequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperiencethatwouldprovidetheabovenotedknowledge,
  skills,andability.
• Abletoperformallrequiredtasks,includingreaching,and stretching,workingonroofs,fromladdersandin confined,oftenpoorlyventilatedareas;toworkoutofdoorsinavarietyoftemperaturesandclimateconditions;andtomanuallylift
  upto
  50pounds;transferheavierweightswithmanualormechanicalassistance.

National Executive Housekeeping Association Certification (safety,chemicalcontrol,Asbestos Awareness Training Certificate ) is preferred.
