Student Worker - Custodian

CONTRACT/SALARY:
Hourly, Up to 20-hour/week, as needed

STATUS:
Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO:

Director of Maintenance/Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist and perform various custodial duties in the district. Maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment for students and staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Clean/maintain school facilities such as classrooms, restrooms, hallways, entrance doors, entryways, offices, floors, desks, chairs and walls. This includes scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and waxing.

* Replenishes supplies in restrooms and classrooms; changes light bulbs.

* Orders janitorial supplies from maintenance office.

* Remove snow and ice from sidewalks.

* Empties trash receptacles.

* Set up chairs/tables for meeting and other items as needed.

* Assist in painting, cutting grass, making repairs, and insuring rooms are securely locked.

* Report maintenance problems to building principal.

* Perform other duties as assigned by building principal or director of maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to read and write.

* Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

* Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.

* Ability to perform daily tasks with minimum supervision.

* Ability to work well with others.

* Ability to effectively communicate and work well with students, staff and parents.

* Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.

* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.

* Ability to have reliable transporation to and from work.

* Must be at least 16 years of age or older and a student within the Fox C-6 School District.
