, a growing electric distribution cooperative headquartered in Buena Vista, with a Field Office in Westcliffe, we are seeking applicants for two (2) open positions of 1st Year Apprentice Lineman through Journeyman Lineman
, one (1) at our Buena Vista location and one (1) at our Field Office in Westcliffe. The wage range is $43.33/hr to $59.36/hr, depending on experience. Buena Vista and Westcliffe offer a unique blend of career opportunities and outdoor adventure. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Deals with consumers, vendors, contractors and other employees in a cordial, business-like manner to maintain positive public relations within and outside of SDCEA.
- Treats all consumer and personnel information as confidential.
- Complies with all SDCEA policies and procedures.
- Required to perform other duties as assigned.
- Expected to work extra hours as workload or emergency situations require.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test. All SDCEA employees may be subject to periodic random drug testing.
- Progression through an adequate apprentice lineman program (normally four years) is required.
- A valid First Aid, CPR and AED certification must be maintained.
- Must develop proficiency in the operation of and understand the hazards of all equipment used.
- Must develop a working knowledge of safe use of all materials and supplies pertinent to construction and maintenance of the system, including hot line equipment.
- Understands the use of all tools and equipment needed to work on energized lines of voltages used in the system.
- Must possess the ability to perform pole top rescue, resuscitation, and artificial respiration techniques in accordance with SDCEA, CREA and other applicable requirements.
- Must be able to practice proper radio communication procedures and Mayday Procedures.
- Must be able to work productively independently or cooperatively with others in a team.
- Must possess written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills at the level required to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to operate office machines, computers and associated programs at the level required to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. SDCEA, at its sole discretion, may allow the apprentice lineman to attain a Commercial Driver’s License after initial employment.
