Position: POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC with Security Clearance
Duties
* Power System Component Adaptation & Sustainment for 12 MW Power Plant and Distributed Generators (Underground Hardened Facility)
* Critical Mission Power System Operational Readiness Through Adaptation (Underground Hardened Facility)
* Electrical Power Support System Integration & Optimization across 12 MW Power Plant and Distributed Generators (Underground Hardened Facility)
* Condition-Based Maintenance of Legacy Power Systems across 12 MW Power Plant and Distributed Generators Utilizing Advanced Controls (Underground Hardened Facility)
* Advanced Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving for Legacy Power Systems across 12 MW Power Plant and Distributed Generators with Modern Controls (Underground Hardened Facility). Installs temporary mobile emergency generators. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Direct Deposit:

* The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle up to and including a 2-1/2-ton truck. An appropriate valid driver's license may be required for the position
* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
* Position may require the employee to operate a forklift up to 15,000-pound capacity to move heavy power support equipment
* Serves "on call" and may be required to be available after duty hours when problems arise. The incumbent is subject to call seven days a week, 24 hours a day and may work irregular, rotating shifts/tours of duty
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employees must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety
* This position is designated as a Key Position. The duty of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation
* and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively
* This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW:
DoDD 1200.7, "Screening of the Ready Reserve
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Emergency overtime may be required

* The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
Performs work that involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, and arm movement. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to about 50 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
* In emergency situations operators will rack in/out breakers.
* Position must maintain qualification in CPR 13. Position must maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous materials program.
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-5378 POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
