Facilities Specialist – Ashburn, VA
Job SummaryThe Facilities Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the overall facilities and supporting mechanical, electronic, and electrical systems at a warehouse‑type training facility. The role includes preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance to ensure all facility support functions and equipment remain in continuous working order.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep facility machines running smoothly and building systems operating efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility and shooting range, including trash removal and floor scrubbing.
- Utilize hand and power tools for minor carpentry, drywall patching, painting, and floor sanding.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Conduct daily inspections of the overall facility, shooting range, and supporting equipment and systems.
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage repair and maintenance work performed by vendors and contractors, including janitorial services.
- Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and drawings to assist in diagnostics, maintenance, and routine service.
- Work safely in elevated spaces, including rooftop access areas, and perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
- At least 3 years of hands‑on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or HVAC systems.
- Experience with drywall patching, painting, and floor sanding.
- Basic familiarity with safety standards (OSHA) and ability to follow safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document repair work and generate reports.
- Self‑starter with strong work ethic; able to work with minimal supervision.
- Positive, proactive attitude, capable of addressing issues and implementing solutions.
- Prior education or training in electronics and electrical systems preferred.
- Availability for weekdays, evenings, or weekends as business needs require.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database entry.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a Security Clearance (subject to background investigation, drug screening, and favorable credit check).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally more), stand, walk, climb, kneel, and climb spaces.
- Compliance with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) regulations and requirements.
- Standing/walking/mobility: 75%–100% of the time.
- Climbing/stooping/kneeling: 75%–100% of the time.
- Lifting/pulling/pushing: 75%–100% of the time, must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Fine motor skills/dexterity for writing, typing, and telephone use up to 25% of the time.
- Sitting: 0%–5% of the time.
