Job Description Job Summary The pay range for this position starts at $17.09/hour and is based on the level of experience and qualifications above the minimum requirements for the role. Biltmore House Housekeeping Staff are responsible for performing general custodial and janitorial work in and around Biltmore House, Conservatory, and other locations across the Estate. This position is required to perform the following: maintain historic floors, clean and refinish floors, clean restrooms, empty trash, change lights, vacuum guest area carpets.

Facility Services team members will also provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company by providing a world class experience for guest accessing and using the assigned location. Schedule is 7am - 3pm, Monday through Friday with some weekends included.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    Clean restrooms with high degree of cleanliness and detail to Biltmore standards, clean pubic areas, offices, break room, empty trashcans, clean various areas on the Estate, carry out task as needed (light bulbs, pressure washing, disaster cleanup)
  • Work with others to achieve cleaning standards inside Biltmore House.
  • Vacuum guest areas.
  • Change light bulbs with ladders and scaffolding.
  • Dust mop and dust expansive areas.
  • Refinish and polish floors with modern cleaning equipment.
  • Perform emergency clean-up of bodily fluids.
  • Storm debris clean-up.
  • Ensure that safety protocols and quality controls are followed and that work is in full compliance with OSHA and departmental, company standards.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform very minor maintenance work orders as assigned by management.
  • Assistance with administration related to area operational activities.
  • Store, organize and maintain proper supplies and supply rooms.
  • Work overtime, or different shift if required by management.
  • Work from heights of at least 8'.
  • Provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company as required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma (or GED). Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of previous custodial/janitorial and/or maintenance experience. The ideal candidate will have had prior experience in the same or similar role in another guest service, attraction, or hotel/resort environment, preferably working either second or third shifts.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to contributing to the delivery of world class guest service through providing clean and immaculate facilities for guest use.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a guest service team.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment, and to read and comprehend material safety data (MSD) sheets.
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative where appropriate.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under deadlines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 19 years of age.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand/walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach overhead and below throughout the duration of a shift.
  • Ability to climb ladder/scaffolding up to 8 feet.
  • Visual acuity and the ability to respond to a variety of stimuli appropriately.
  • Ability to work effectively with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, bodily fluids, extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions, using the proper safety and protective equipment.
