Lead Mechanic

The purpose of the Lead Mechanic position is to utilize mechanical expertise to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe, and timely manner. The incumbent is a master technician, leading product knowledge and quality standards within the branch.

• Perform major repairs on equipment using hand tools, machine tools, and measuring instruments
• Assign and direct work to the mechanics
• Monitor work orders
• Address complaints and resolve problems timely and effectively
• Work closely with the Branch Manager/Shop Supervisor to ensure efficiency and profitability from the Service Department
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services
• Recondition and replace parts of heavy equipment
• Operate and test equipment
• Diagnose problem areas for wear or tear on the equipment
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
• Follow all company filed procedures and protocols
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• 5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience
• High School Diploma/GED

• Ability to handle assorted tools properly and safely
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to operate large, heavy machinery
• Ability to read and comprehend operating procedures, owner's manuals, and product warning labels
• Customer service skills
• Understand the importance of time management

Pay Range: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
