Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, General Labor
Perform and support all labor activity involved in maintaining a fleet of railroad equipment
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Welding, electrical, and hydraulic work on railroad equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair of equipment as required
- Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
- Mechanical abilities
- Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics, preferred
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must be proficient in the English language
- 5 years of experience with electrical, diesel mechanics, welding, and hydraulics, preferred
- High school diploma or GED (vocational school preferred)
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet)
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances; frequently climb on/off equipment; climb ladders frequently
- Use hands to perform activities involving grasping, turning, holding and pulling
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand and sit for extended time; and use hand tools
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow; hear and distinguish auditory signals
