Description
The Financial Accounting Manager will manage the accounting and reporting process and share responsibility with the Corporate Controller for all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement reporting and analysis. The Manager will collaborate with the Corporate Controller and Senior VP of Finance, liaison with the external financial statement auditors, bank auditors and other consulting firms as needed. The Financial Accounting Manager will have one Senior Accountant direct report and will have an indirect line of responsibility for the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, which consist of six employees currently.
Responsibilities will include general ledger entries, approvals and analysis of all general ledger accounts and reporting and analysis as needed.
- Effectively lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
- Thoroughly understand the general ledger to ensure all accounting processes are consistent with GAAP and completed timely and accurately.
- Initiate and approve journal entries and analyze monthly reconciliations and balances.
- Account for payroll activity and assist the payroll team in tax filings and benefit plan audit requests.
- Analyze accounts and variances to ensure amounts are reasonable and consistent with expectations and to identify opportunities for savings and performance improvements.
- Ensure annual financial statement audit requests are accurate and provided timely to the external auditors.
- Follow up on requests from auditors in a timely fashion and facilitate the flow of information and sample requests as needed.
- Provide ad hoc support as needed to management and external accounting firms and consulting firms.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. CPA required.
- Experience using accounting software, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel required, including ability to analyze and validate copious amounts of data.
- Thorough understanding of a general ledger, charts of accounts and financial statements.
- Ability to lead others, work with team members, both in-office and remote, and ensure the continued development of staff.
Position is an in-office role with the possibility of one remote day weekly.
Physical RequirementsPosition requires sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching. Must be able to lift twenty-five pounds.
