Accounting Associate – Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers

The Accounting Associate shall be responsible for data entry into the General Ledger system and related subsystems. Works closely with the Director of Accounting to ensure all accounting functions related to federal and local grants are recorded efficiently and effectively. Provides support for all accounting functions.

• Perform data entry into all sub-systems under the supervision of the Director of Accounting.
• Review and reconcile receipts with the respective systems and the deposits into the bank account.
• Prepare monthly prepayment and accrual journal entries for review and posting.
• Manage all accounts payable functions to ensure proper payment and recording.
• Maintain a calendar of key dates for monthly closes, audits, key filings, and financial statement preparations and publications.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Accounting or CFO.

• Proficient in Word and Excel.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• High school degree or experience in accounting or a related field.

Must be able to lift 30 lbs. without assistance; 50 lbs. with assistance. Requires ability to reach with hands and arms and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Ability to talk and hear as well as stand, walk, and sit is required. Occasional need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Willingness and ability to travel to all center locations and special events as well as worked extended hours and/or a flexible schedule. Must pass a criminal background check and a drug screen.
