Accounting Manager
Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC is seeking an Account Manager for their Internal Accounting Department. We are a Top 100 CPA Firm and have been a continuous entity since 1918.
Job Responsibilities- Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in all aspects of accounting; financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, budgeting, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and various special analysis
- Manage the financial and operational accounting activities of the firm, including monthly close process, accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
- Provide support and backup to the accounting team which may include preparing, reviewing, and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and various other work papers.
- Collaborate with various other departments to support overall company goals and objectives.
- Manage accounting processes and all transactions with a detailed set of policies and procedures
- Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
- Support monthly and annual financial report preparation
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget(s)
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Additional duties as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Ideal candidate has minimum 5 years of experience in field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred, but not required
- Previous experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly intermediate Excel skills.
- Intermediate experience with accounting system software: preferably Sage Intacct, , CCH Practice Management, CCH Fixed Assets, DOMO Data Intelligence and Analytics, Prepaid Software system
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities in a timely manner
- Strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead and coach
- Ability to work with all levels of the firm and maintain confidentiality
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
- Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
- Attention to detail
In addition to on-the-job training, all new staff attends a week-long training course detailing audit procedures and tax policies. For the next four years, staff attend week-long staff level training courses. The classes include audit, tax, supervisory skills, general business, and management topics. Depending on work assignments, you will also attend industry-specific training. We also provide many hours of cutting edge technology training each year.
