Job Summary
The Sr. Cost Accountant will provide day-to-day accounting support across the organization, focusing on cost accounting and inventory costing for Mexico facilities within a shared services environment. This role will support the monthly close cycle, perform journal entries and account reconciliations, and ensure the accuracy of inventory and material costs in the ERP system.
The position will work closely with the U.S.
-based accounting team and Mexico controllers, acting as a key point of coordination between teams while contributing to ongoing process improvement initiatives.
- Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage and review inventory costing processes, ensuring accuracy of material costs within the ERP system.
- Update and maintain material cost components, including base cost, freight, duties, and tariffs.
- Reconcile and balance intercompany inventory transactions, booking adjustments when necessary.
- Identify and resolve uncosted material issues and ensure proper cost allocation.
- Support internal and external audits, including physical inventory counts and documentation requests.
- Track and monitor operational KPIs related to cost accounting and freight processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, and supply chain to improve accounting processes and financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience in cost accounting and inventory accounting.
- Experience in manufacturing environments preferred.
- Conceptual understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle strongly preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, macros, and Power Query.
- 0-10%.
