Senior Accountant

GHJ Search and Staffing serves as the recruitment division of GHJ, a prominent national accounting and advisory firm. Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. We are working with an organization in the Atlanta area seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can quickly step in to support month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting accounting operations, and assisting with process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

* Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger activity

* Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

* Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

* Support preparation of financial statements and management reports

* Analyze financial data and identify variances or trends

* Assist with audit support and documentation requests

* Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accounting operations

* Participate in process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

* 4+ years of accounting experience

* Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles

* Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills

* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

* Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

* CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
