Ledgent is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for an on-site contract opportunity in the downtown Atlanta area. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a structured environment and enjoys working with financial data, reconciliations, and process accuracy.
The Staff Accountant will support core accounting functions with a focus on reviewing financial transactions, maintaining data integrity, and assisting with routine accounting processes. This individual will collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Review accounts payable transactions to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and proper coding before system processing.
- Extract and transfer financial data between systems using Excel and internal accounting platforms.
- Perform routine bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with standard accounting practices.
- Assist with account reconciliations and other general ledger-related activities.
- Support additional accounting and finance tasks as assigned.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable review, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, accrual basis accounting).
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Prior experience within government or non-profit sectors.
