Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for our client's real estate development and property management portfolio. This hands‑on leadership role will oversee financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, audits, compliance, internal controls, and accounting staff while partnering closely with Development, Construction, and Property Management teams.

MUST HAVE CPA AND REAL ESTATE EXPERIENCE.

• Lead month‑end/year‑end close and prepare GAAP‑compliant financial statements
• Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships
• Manage job cost accounting, construction draws, project funding, and development accounting
• Support property‑level accounting, budgeting, variance analysis, and portfolio reporting
• Ensure compliance with LIHTC, HUD, and other affordable housing programs
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and financial compliance requirements
• Develop and mentor accounting team members while driving process improvements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 10+ years of accounting/finance experience
• 5+ years of accounting leadership experience
• Real estate accounting experience, including development and property management accounting
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and cash management
• Advanced Excel skills required

• Construction accounting and lender draws
• Yardi, MRI, App Folio, Real Page/One Site, or similar property management systems
