Staff Accountant

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with construction industry experience to support day-to-day accounting operations and project financial management. This role will be responsible for general ledger activities, job costing, account reconciliations, month-end close, and assisting with project-based reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including cost tracking, progress billing, retainage, and work-in-progress reporting.

Key Responsibilities

+ Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

+ Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close

+ Track and analyze job costs by project, phase, and cost code

+ Review project budgets versus actual costs and investigate variances

+ Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and project profitability reporting

+ Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable related to construction projects

+ Support progress billing, AIA billing, and customer invoicing

+ Review subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation

+ Help ensure proper cost allocation for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors

+ Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts

+ Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting

+ Assist with audit support and compliance with internal controls and company policies
