In the Compliance Manager role, you'll lead multi-state and local indirect tax compliance engagements for clients across North America. You'll collaborate with a network of SALT professionals to ensure accurate, timely filings across complex jurisdictions, while overseeing end-to-end engagement delivery, including preparation, review, workflow coordination, and quality control to meet client and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions- Uphold firm and AICPA and IPT ethical standards while maintaining strict client confidentiality.
- Deliver high-quality state and local use compliance services with strong client focus and attention to detail.
- Lead planning, execution, and completion of compliance engagements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and jurisdictional compliance.
- Supervise and guide associates and seniors to ensure consistent, high-quality client service throughout engagements.
- Review and finalize state and local tax filings to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Manage engagement workflows, deadlines, and resources to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Respond to tax notices and assist with audits and issue resolution as needed.
- Identify and support process improvements and use of technology to enhance efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support ongoing compliance needs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
- CPA or CMI license preferred
- Five to ten years of sales tax compliance experience, preferred
- Experience managing staff and client relationships in a professional services setting
- Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve complex problems independently or collaboratively
- Excellent communication and time management skills across multiple projects
