Manager of Inventory & Cost Accounting
Now recruiting on behalf of a global manufacturing company seeking a Manager, Inventory & Cost Accounting to lead inventory governance, accounting integrity, reporting, and process improvement initiatives across multiple operational locations. This is a high‑impact role offering visibility across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and executive leadership.
Responsibilities- Establish and elevate inventory control practices across manufacturing and distribution facilities.
- Lead cycle count programs, physical inventories, and variance resolution efforts.
- Monitor inventory performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Drive inventory‑related compliance efforts, including internal controls and SOX requirements.
- Partner with plant leadership, finance, and supply chain teams to standardize processes and improve operational execution.
- Oversee inventory reconciliations and support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
- Develop reporting and analytics that provide actionable business insights.
- Support ERP optimization initiatives that enhance inventory visibility and process effectiveness.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk, improve accountability, and streamline workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing finance or inventory control.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Experience supporting SOX compliance and audit activities.
- Experience with large ERP systems and strong Excel capabilities.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Public accounting experience with a regional, national or large firm (preferred).
- Experience with SAP (strongly preferred);
Oracle, JD Edwards or similar systems also considered. - Leadership or supervisory experience.
- Background supporting standard costing, inventory valuation and manufacturing operations.
- Proven ability to influence change and improve business processes.
- Comfort working cross‑functionally with plant and operational leadership.
- Positive, adaptable professional who can challenge existing processes while building strong partnerships.
- Track record of delivering measurable results.
- Continuous improvement mindset balancing operational needs and financial governance.
Location:
