Job Description
At Regions, the Business Unit Accountant provides accounting support to assigned business units. The role includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing summaries, and producing timely and accurate financial reports.
Primary Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts of assigned business unit.
- Prepare special accounting reports for management or regulatory authorities.
- Investigate potential problems and gather appropriate data for solutions.
- Prepare and complete month end reporting of business unit results.
- Conduct financial analyses, audits and investigations of business expenses.
- Assist in developing and monitoring accounting internal control programs for assigned unit.
- Provide advice to financial managers and other accountants on unusual and difficult accounting systems and/or operational problems.
- Analyze financial information to provide direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budget.
- Reconcile other general ledger accounts as assigned.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis for management.
- Assist company external auditors and internal auditors as needed to ensure an efficient and effective audit process.
- Resolve disputed items and answer routine inquiries.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and at least three (3) years of accounting or directly related experience.
- Or high school diploma and at least seven (7) years of directly related experience.
- Ability to build relationships with peers and complete assignments in a team environment and independently.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail.
Experience with tax accounting preferred.
Compensation DetailsPay ranges are job specific and vary by experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and performance. The target salary range is $62,542.15 to $86,430.00 USD. This position is not incentive eligible.
