ROLE SUMMARYThe General Accounting Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, analysis, and operational accounting across a large, multi‑location manufacturing organization. This role ensures accuracy of financial results, strengthens internal controls, and provides insights that support business performance.
Working closely with regional controllers, plant leadership, and corporate accounting teams, the Senior Accountant will lead reconciliations, review staff work, support audit activities, assist with acquisition integration, and drive process improvements. This newly created role offers significant visibility, technical complexity, and opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic and acquisitive company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger activity for business units, plants, and quarries
- Collaborate with regional controllers and operational leaders to investigate and explain P&L variances
- Perform monthly reconciliations of assigned Balance Sheet and P&L accounts with clear audit documentation
- Support external reporting requirements through review of select accounts, ledgers, and financial statements
- Assist with year‑end closing procedures and prepare annual audit schedules
- Partner with Accounting Managers on acquisition integration including technical accounting memos, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Design and generate financial queries and reports using Power BI, Showcase Query, and advanced Excel
- Review staff accountant reconciliations and journal entries and provide mentorship as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting workflows and reporting efficiency
- Execute monthly journal entries, prepare ad‑hoc analyses, and support special projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 to 4 years of progressive accounting experience within a large corporate environment or a blend of public accounting and corporate accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and recent accounting pronouncements
- Experience working within a large ERP system required
- Advanced Excel skills including complex formulas, pivots, and large data set analysis
- Strong problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to research and resolve complex accounting issues
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with a high sense of urgency
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- CPA or active CPA track strongly preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, large public company environments, and Big 4 or large public accounting firms preferred
