A growing regional home builder is seeking an experienced Controller with deep residential construction accounting expertise to lead its accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance functions.

The Controller will oversee all accounting operations with a strong emphasis on job costing, subcontractor management, WIP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.

We are seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in homebuilding, residential construction, or land development to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing organization. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional job costing expertise, a thorough understanding of subcontractor accounting, and the ability to provide financial insight that supports operational and strategic goals.

Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions.

Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.

Manage subcontractor accounting, including compliance tracking, insurance requirements, payment processing, and contract administration.

Develop and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Partner with construction operations and executive leadership to monitor project performance and financial results.

Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies.

Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and relationships with external accounting partners.

Implement and strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting systems.

Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

7+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience within homebuilding, residential construction, land development, or a related industry.

Strong expertise in job costing, project accounting, subcontractor management, and WIP reporting.

Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.

Knowledge of construction accounting software and ERP systems.

Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

CPA designation preferred but not required.

Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and operational teams.
