Construction Project Cost Accountant
Our client seeks to add a Construction Project Cost Accountant to their accounting team in Midtown Atlanta. The Project Cost Accountant is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of job cost information, and for providing regular updates to the Finance Team.
Roles and Responsibilities- Review job budgets with Project Managers to ensure all Purchase Orders (PO) are issued at or under budget
- Review job set-up of newly entered jobs to ensure accuracy and completeness of date entry (Job Master, User Defined Fields, General Construction order list entered to the Notes, budget correctly entered with labor hours, and material quantities).
- Compare commitments to budgets. Insure proper coding, investigate potential over/under budget items and help resolve (ensure Internal Change Orders prepared as necessary), and identify missing Purchase Orders (PO) and subcontracts.
- Match invoices to POs. Review all job cost related invoices to ensure proper PO is identified
- Confirm PO # is on invoice, invoice has correct quantity, unit price, total cost; verify and approve invoices for payment with PM, and forward to accounts payable.
- Attend project management meetings when scheduled.
- Review Job Cost Detail reports with PMs to identify items for correction and help identify invalid open commitments, over/under budget items, and duration issues (hotels, labor, per diem, fuel, and equipment in particular) on a weekly basis as scheduled with PM's.
- Review Labor Production reports with PMs prior to release to the field (Superintendents) each Friday.
- Provide Finance Team with a status report on all jobs in progress (Job Cost Summary report) after the weekly project management meetings to include: schedule changes, over/under budget projections with specifics, and recommend ICOs for items that can't be corrected.
- Full ownership of the month-end Work-in-Process (WIP) review as necessary to have final WIP schedule complete on the end of the 6th workday of each month.
- Provide job cost information for month end, quarter end and year-end close.
- Responsible for conducting ongoing analysis for job costing.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. 1-2 years previous cost accounting experience in a construction or manufacturing environment required. Timberline or Yardi experience a plus.
Salary: $45,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
