The Senior Accountant,Global Reporting and Controllership is a unique opportunity for a driven early-career accountant to gain broad, hands-on experience with external financial reporting, global consolidations, and technical accounting. As a key member of an integrated team, the Senior Accountant will help prepare the financial documents and disclosures behind Novelis's SEC filings, contribute to the global consolidation process, support IFRS-related and other reporting to the parent company, and participate in regulatory and statutory reporting across jurisdictions.

Along the way, the Senior Accountant will gain visibility with executive leadership through the deliverables and analyses they help prepare. This is a role designed for professional development, offering meaningful, high-impact work supported by an experienced team invested in developing the next generation of accounting and controllership talent.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for external use, including financial statements and supporting notes for SEC filings (Forms 10-K and 10-Q), ensuring all disclosures are accurate and properly supported.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly and annual global consolidation process, including preparation of consolidation schedules and analysis of reported financial results.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliation, elimination, and consolidation adjustment activities.
  • Prepare and analyze U.S. GAAP cash flow statements and related supporting schedules.
  • Support reporting to the Company’s parent organization under IFRS-related and other reporting requirements.
  • Perform XBRL tagging of the financial statements.
  • Partner with other groups cross-functionally, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Investor Relations, and Financial Planning, to obtain the information needed to complete regulatory filings.
  • Participate in the analysis of significant and complex transactions and assist in evaluating the related financial reporting and disclosure implications.
  • Identify and improve existing financial reporting and close processes.
  • Keep up to date with the latest regulatory and accounting disclosure requirements.
  • Prepare the disclosure checklist to ensure financial statements are accurate and complete.
  • Document and maintain SOX-related documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • Support the Treasury Department through the preparation of debt covenant compliance calculations.
  • Prepare other regulatory filings, including statutory reporting, as necessary.
  • Assist the external auditors with their review and audit procedures over financial reporting.
  • Support special projects, process and automation initiatives, and other ad hoc responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate
  • Public accounting, SEC reporting, or corporate financial reporting experience required
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, with the aptitude to research accounting and reporting issues and effectively communicate conclusions and financial statement impacts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines
  • Organizational skills and proven ability to work independently
