- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Oversee accounting for property-level transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, capital expenditures, and lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Analyze and report on operating expenses, CAM reconciliations, and property-level budgets vs. actuals
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements across multiple entities/properties
- Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and liaising with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with debt covenants and assist with lender reporting requirements
- Review and approve accounts payable/receivable transactions as needed
- Partner with property management and asset management teams to ensure accurate financial data flow
- Assist in the preparation of tax filings and coordination with external tax advisors
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by management
- Exposure to real estate fund accounting or joint venture structures
- Familiarity with construction/development accounting
- Experience supporting audits with Big 4 or national accounting firms
