The client is seeking a Tax Principal to serve as a senior leader within the tax practice, providing strategic tax advisory, leading key client relationships, developing business, and helping guide the growth of the practice.
This role is expected to operate beyond day-to-day tax compliance. The Tax Principal should be a highly credible tax advisor who can manage sophisticated client relationships, lead complex engagements, develop and mentor senior-level tax professionals, and contribute meaningfully to business development and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities Serve as a senior strategic advisor to key tax clients
Lead complex tax planning, consulting, advisory, and compliance engagements
Provide technical guidance on sophisticated federal, state, and local tax matters
Maintain and deepen relationships with existing clients
Develop new client relationships and identify opportunities to expand client’s tax and advisory services
Lead business development efforts through networking, referrals, prospect development, and cross-selling
Oversee major tax engagements and ensure high standards for quality, profitability, and client service
Mentor and develop Tax Senior Managers, Managers, and other tax professionals
Collaborate with other service lines and subject matter experts to deliver broader client solutions
Participate in strategic planning and growth initiatives for the tax practice
Help strengthen client’s market presence within targeted industries and geographies
Act as a visible leader internally and externally
Required Qualifications Significant progressive tax experience, typically 10+ years
Strong background within public accounting, tax consulting, or comparable senior tax leadership CPA, EA, or other appropriate professional credential required
Extensive experience leading complex tax engagements
Proven client relationship management experience
Strong technical tax knowledge across planning, compliance, and advisory
Demonstrated leadership and team-development experience
Strong executive presence and communication skills
Ability to advise business owners, executives, CFOs, and other senior decision-makers
Experience developing new business or expanding existing client relationships
Preferred Industry Experience
Experience supporting one or more of client’s focus industries would be especially attractive:
