Fisher Phillips, a leading international labor and employment law firm, is seeking a Pro Bono & Community Engagement Coordinator to help support and grow the firm’s pro bono, community engagement and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) efforts. This role provides hands-on coordination, administrative support, and communications assistance that help keep our firmwide initiatives running smoothly and effectively.
This position reports to the Director of Pro Bono & Community Engagement and the Director of Professional Development, and works closely with attorneys, business professionals, nonprofit partners, and local office liaisons across the firm. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and mission-driven, with a genuine interest in access to justice and community service – and is excited to work with people and projects that make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the intake, opening, tracking, and closing of pro bono matters in firm systems, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up.
- Serve as a first point of contact for internal and external pro bono inquiries, routing requests as appropriate.
- Support planning and coordination of pro bono clinics, volunteer activities, training, and service initiatives (virtual and in-person).
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments, including Marketing, Professional Development, and IT to support program needs.
- Track attorney participation and engagement, including hours and matter status, to support internal reporting, surveys, and recognition efforts.
- Assist with transitions of pro bono matters related to attorney arrivals, departures, or role changes.
- Maintain organized electronic records, calendars and timelines related to key program activities and deadlines.
Coordinate Community & Partner Engagement
- Support relationships with legal services organizations, nonprofits, and community partners, including coordinating logistics, communications, and follow-up.
- Assist with onboarding new partner organizations and maintaining up-to-date partner organization information.
- Engage regularly with FP Cares leads and local office pro bono liaisons to support office-level initiatives and firmwide programs.
Contribute to Communications, Recognition & Reporting
- Draft initial versions of internal communications highlighting CLE, pro bono, and community engagement opportunities, events, and accomplishments.
- Support submissions for awards, surveys, and external recognition related to pro bono and community engagement work.
- Prepare and submit CLE reports to the relevant internal and external parties.
Support CLE Programs and Administration
- Participate in CLE planning and status meetings with the Marketing team to ensure effective coordination and delivery of related programs.
- Generate and distribute CLE attendance certificates using provided templates.
- Assist in responding to general inquiries related to CLE compliance, licensing, and jurisdiction-specific rules and procedures.
- Compile, organize and maintain attendee records and assist with pre and post-event data entry and records.
- Respond to requests for past certificates and correct basic clerical errors as needed.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a legal services organization, nonprofit, law firm, or other professional services environment.
- Demonstrated interest in pro bono, access to justice, and/or community engagement work.
- Familiarity with Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs or similar programs preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and business professionals at all levels.
- Professional judgment, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, social media tools and communications, and demonstrated interest in learning and adapting to new technology.
- Ability to travel occasionally for meetings or events, as needed.
