Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or ged required: supplemented by one (1) year of clerical, administrative support, customer service, and or record management experience preferably in a library or museum and/or training; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific license or certification required: may require possession and maintenance of valid state of georgia notary public certification.
Specific knowledge, skills, or abilities: must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Examination:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

Purpose of classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative and clerical tasks in support of departmental operations, with a focus on processing applications, permits, legal records, and/or documentation pertaining to a specific departmental function, providing customer service, and file / records management. Work is relatively routine in nature and subject to standard procedures and guidelines, wherein some latitude for judgment relative to understanding and interpretation is required;
work can often be tedious and require more attention to detail. Job duties can be learned from moderately-simple, multiple-step instructions or demonstrations of moderate repetition.
Essential functions:

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations within designated time frames and per established procedures; receives, reviews, records, types, and/or distributes documentation; enters data into computer systems; logs, tracks, or maintains records regarding department activities; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; files, maintains, and stores hardcopy records.
Performs data entry functions by keying data into computer system; enters, retrieves, reviews or modifies data in computer database; scans documents into computer; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; indexes documents; develops databases and computerized reports.
Processes applications for department services, such as licenses, facility usage, program enrollment, employment, or other purposes; distributes application forms and provides information; accepts fees/deposits and processes completed applications; issues permits as appropriate; administers work order program and opens/closes work order…
