Job Details: Mercer University is searching for an Academic Support Specialist for the College of Health Professions on the Atlanta, Georgia campus.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Dean of the College of Health Professions and Program Director, the Academic Support Specialist is responsible for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program's compliance with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education's (ACOTE) clerical support requirements in Standard
A.2.8. The Academic Support Specialist provides the Program Director, Coordinator of Academic Fieldwork, and Doctoral Capstone Coordinator with academic support. Responsibilities include independently performing administrative tasks such as preparing and analyzing materials related to the Program's operations, generating invoices, and preparing budget-related documents, as well as maintaining accurate databases and serving as a liaison to internal and external constituents. Additional support is provided for accreditation-related activities for the OTD Program.
Two years of college coursework and one year of administrative support experience, to include working with databases and customer service, are required. In lieu of education, equivalent directly related experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to create and manage documents, reports, presentations, and data.
- Knowledge of database and records management systems, including student information and tracking tools.
- Ability to use institutional and program-specific systems and applications (e.g., Canvas, Qualtrics, scheduling and calendar platforms).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and provide high-quality customer service in interactions with students and visitors.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
- Strong data management skills, including the ability to track, compile, analyze, and report information accurately.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity.
- Ability to learn student information systems (e.g., Anthology, Canvas, Qualtrics).
