Position OverviewThe Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police, and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVE). This position supports the Human Resources Director and staff by providing executive-level administrative assistance.
Key Responsibilities- Provides executive-level administrative support to the Human Resources Director and to other Human Resources Division staff.
- Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive personnel, payroll, and organizational information while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
- Reviews and prioritizes incoming correspondence for the Human Resources Director, routes items appropriately, and prepares or coordinates responses as directed.
- Assists the Human Resources Director with planning, coordinating, and completing routine administrative activities and special projects.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for employees, applicants, and the public by providing courteous, timely, and accurate information and administrative assistance.
- Addresses employee and customer concerns in a timely, courteous, and professional manner, resolving issues whenever possible and referring matters as appropriate.
- Prepares, scans, labels, distributes, and maintains documents and electronic files to support departmental operations.
- Monitors office supply inventory, determines needs, and orders supplies in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Schedules appointments, maintains calendars, coordinates meetings, and assists with meeting preparation and follow-up as needed.
- Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Director and staff to support efficient office processes and the effective delivery of Human Resources services.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet; e-mail; and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Successful experience dealing with issues, situations, and documents of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.
- Experience in an office setting with excellent customer service skills.
- Previous state government experience.
- Previous experience working in a Human Resources office.
- Experience with Workday or People Soft.
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of professional-level job-related experience working in an administration-related field.
