Department Information The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education.

Job Summary

Provide support related to academic administration within a college, school or other academic unit. Work involves administrative duties to include scheduling, recordkeeping, customer service, maintaining files and related duties. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and the general public. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities
  • Job Duty 1:
    Provide graduate and undergraduate students information regarding academic records, processes and policies.
  • Job Duty 2:
    Update student records and files.
  • Job Duty 3:
    Perform various academic related clerical /administrative activities such as ordering transcripts, collecting and processing student documentation, etc.
  • Job Duty 4:
    Perform general clerical duties such as preparing mass mailings and maintaining office supplies.
  • Job Duty 5:
    Provide customer service through greeting visitors, scheduling appointments and providing information.
  • Job Duty 6:
    Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
Required Experience
  • Four to five years of job related experience

  • Associate's Degree, Technical Diploma or two years college course work
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
  • This job requires skills in general administrative support as applied within an academic office to include skills in organization, oral and written communication, problem-solving and customer service. Use of office related computer applications is required.
